Despite the show’s reputation for drama, fans are aware that the actual action occurs when new folks move into the bay and upend the status quo.
After the Commonwealth Games next month, the Seven soap will resume production after a brief hiatus with the addition of Perth-raised star Juliet Godwin as Dr. Bree Cameron.
On the set in Palm Beach, Sydney, where so many Home and Away alums got their big break, the 28-year-old was first seen filming surfing sequences in March.
Godwin told PerthNow that landing a role on Home and Away was “a dream come true.”
“It is such a gift that I am able to get up, go to work, and do what I love every day. I’m incredibly appreciative of this chance. Everyone is really kind there. I get to work with incredibly brilliant performers, and the atmosphere is always upbeat.
She claimed that getting the part came as she was getting ready for a night of relaxation.
She claimed, “I was preparing to put on a face mask in my bedroom. When my agent contacted, I genuinely did a joyful dance.
Godwin, who was born in Zimbabwe, relocated to Perth in 2000, where she attended St. Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls in Mosman Park and later enrolled at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Two years ago, she went to Sydney to pursue her acting career. In the 2020 season of the ABC drama series The Heights, she plays the supporting role of Cara.
It is a well kept secret why Dr. Bree chooses to live in Summer Bay, but the community hospital is in need of an emergency department manager as a result of the recent departure of Logan “hot doc” Bennett (Harley Bonner) from the programme.
Bree does arrive at the bay prepared for a new beginning, she claimed.
Because Summer Bay is the ideal laid-back community where she can continue to assist individuals in need anytime she wishes, she immediately leapt on the job opening when she saw it.
Her persona, according to Godwin, was first and foremost a doctor with a “heart of gold.”
She is a physician. She loves the ocean and surfing, but she’s also a surfer chick,” she added.
Funny enough, my partner started teaching me how to surf right before I got the job.
