Fans will be “blown away” by the unique ending to Neighbours, according to star Jemma Donovan.

The famous Channel 5 drama has been cancelled after more than three decades, with the final episodes set to air this summer as fans bid farewell to Ramsay Street and its people.

The program’s producers are keeping the conclusion under wraps, but Jemma Donovan, who plays Harlow on the show and is the daughter of Neighbours icon Jason Donovan, has guaranteed that fans will not be disappointed.

She couldn’t say too much about the plans because she didn’t want to give too much away, but she assured it would be a big party.

“Our fans are so committed in the show, and I love that they study and analyse even the most minute detail — now that’s devotion!” she stated regarding the approaching finale. I’m sure our fans will be blown away by what’s planned for the finale, which will be quite joyful… but that’s all I’m saying for now!”

“I think it’s tough with soap performers because obviously they have to accept really fairly dramatic stories and certainly sometimes crazy storylines,” she said when asked whether she is stopped in the street about her character a lot.

“People don’t dissociate your persona from you, so I believe it’s difficult at times. It’s something you just have to be aware of and dismiss. I think people underestimate the fact that you receive remarks about your character and you’re like, “It’s just not me.” I’m fine with it and it doesn’t upset me too much, but I believe the world is an intriguing place.”

With so many members of her family involved in the show, Jemma claimed she felt “pressure” to perform well on it at first.

“‘Oh, I really want to make sure that I prove myself here as well, and not just come on because of the family name in that sense,’ I guess I was thinking at the start. So, I believe there was some pressure, but I had a great time proving myself “she stated

“I love acting, and I’ve always wanted to be one, so to be able to do something on this programme, and it’s the best training ground for any actor, is fantastic. I’ve learned a lot and I’m grateful for it.”

She said, ” “Even with cast members who have been around for a long time, such as Stefan, you can learn a lot from them. When I first walked on set, it felt quite familiar because of my father and the other people who were there, all of whom were family members. It’s been wonderful, and I’m truly glad for the opportunity to be a part of it.”
