Next week, Tane Parata of Home and Away and baby Maia escape from Summer Bay.
After learning that Maia has been placed with a temporary foster home, Tane takes the dramatic decision.
Social worker Harper Matheson tries to persuade Tane that Maia will be in good hands with her new family in forthcoming episodes on Channel 5.
Tane finds it difficult to accept this and continues to hold out hope that one day he will be Maia’s parent.
Harper’s refusal to reveal the foster parents’ identities for privacy concerns exacerbates his dissatisfaction.
Tane also snaps at senior police constable Rose Delaney, claiming that the Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) against him will prevent him from ever being able to say goodbye to Maia.
When Tane later apologizes to Harper and Rose and acknowledges that they are powerless to intervene on Maia’s behalf, the Summer Bay community hopes that Tane is finally changing his ways.
The fostering paperwork is completed later in the week, and word gets to the hospital that Maia will be picked up by the emergency caregivers the following day.
Dana, Harper’s sister, tries to cheer Tane up by sending him a fresh picture of Maia, but it doesn’t have the desired effect.
Dana has to use Plan B, smuggling Tane into the hospital so he may properly say goodbye to Maia.
Dana completely trusts Tane despite the fact that his acts violate his AVO, and for a brief period of time, she even leaves them in the room together.
Rose learns during her visit to the hospital that a woman has come forward and is claiming to be the baby’s mother, which could have a significant impact on the case.
When Dana returns to the ward to tell Tane the good news, she is shocked to learn that both him and Maia have vanished from sight. Tane has taken Maia where?
