Channel 5, Network 10 & Fremantle Forge Post-‘Neighbours’ Future With Psychological Thriller ‘Riptide’ From ‘Neighbours’ Exec Jason Herbison

The post-Neighbours future is in focus as Channel 5, Network 10, and Fremantle, owned by Paramount, prepare a primetime thriller from Neighbours executive Jason Herbison, featuring Stay Close actor Jo Joyner.

Riptide, a four-part series that will follow Alison (Joyner), whose life is thrown into despair after her new Australian husband disappears after a morning surf, will soon begin filming in Australia. As she begins to look into his absence, it soon becomes clear that there is more to the narrative than what first appears to be the case.

Herbison devised the show, and Joyner will star as the lead. Neighbours was produced by Fremantle for Network 10 and Channel 5 as well as the streamer 10 Peach.

Ciarán Griffiths (Shameless, The Flats) and David Berry (Outlander, A Place Called Home), Peter O’Brien (The Unusual Suspects, Grey Nomads), Ally Fowler (Wentworth), Pia Miranda (Mustangs FC, Wentworth), as well as up-and-coming actors Benny Turland (Neighbours, Home and Away), Asher Yasbincek (The Heights, Heartbreak High), Yaz

Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment, Unscripted, Channel 5 & Paramount+, said, “Lie With Me proved incredibly popular with our viewers and I’m looking forward to expanding our drama slate even further, working hand in hand with our production partners Fremantle Australia and Network 10.”
