The post-Neighbours future is in focus as Channel 5, Network 10, and Fremantle, owned by Paramount, prepare a primetime thriller from Neighbours executive Jason Herbison, featuring Stay Close actor Jo Joyner.
Riptide, a four-part series that will follow Alison (Joyner), whose life is thrown into despair after her new Australian husband disappears after a morning surf, will soon begin filming in Australia. As she begins to look into his absence, it soon becomes clear that there is more to the narrative than what first appears to be the case.
Herbison devised the show, and Joyner will star as the lead. He worked as an executive on the Network 10/Channel 5 miniseries Lie With Me and Neighbours, the soap opera that is about to end after 35 years as the UK network moves more toward original drama like Riptide. Neighbours was produced by Fremantle for Network 10 and Channel 5 as well as the streamer 10 Peach.
