For the hour-long Neighbours finale on Channel 5, more than 2.5 million Britons tuned in.

It became the program’s highest-rated episode since 2008 and its third-highest-rated episode ever on Channel 5, according to Digital Spy.

People who grew up watching the show and associated it with defining times in their own lives expressed their emotions on social media in large quantities.

Returning Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies praised the finale of It’s a Sin, calling it “brilliant. Very nicely done. Forgiveness, humour, and kindness toward Izzy And it’s pure scriptwriting genius to have Plain Jane Superbrain put her glasses on and instantly become more attractive. I would kill to work with Jackie Woodburne among all the wonderful actresses! We use these shows to gauge our lives, which is excellent.

Even a poem written by staff members in tribute to Neighbours was read to passengers on the London Underground.

Additionally, Fremantle and CHEP Network designed a unique “Visit Australia” advertising that was run by Tourism Australia.

Say g’day to Australia, the final sentence, is written in the same font as the show’s logo.

According to Sally Cope, Tourism Australia’s regional general manager for the UK and Northern Europe, “a little bit of the Australian lifestyle has been emerging in everyone’s living room every day for four decades.”
