When is the final episode of Neighbours?

It’s finally here—the moment that Neighbours fans in Australia have been waiting for.

Hold back your tears because the venerable programme, which has graced our televisions for 37 years, is about to end.

Former cast members Margot Robbie, Jason Donovan, Natalie Imbruglia, and Kylie Minogue will all appear in the finale after agreeing to one farewell appearance on Ramsay Street.

The stunning cancellation of the show was initially announced in March 2022, and despite a fan campaign to keep the cherished series alive, the final episode was taped earlier this year.

It’s time to say farewell now. But precisely when will “Neighbours” end?

When will Neighbours’ last episode air?

This Friday, July 29, at 9 p.m. on Channel 5, the final episode of Neighbours will air.

The popular Australian soap will end with a bumper, hour-long episode that will air just a few hours after the penultimate episode, which will first air at 1.45 pm and then again at 6 pm.

The last episode will air on channels 10 and 10 Peach in Australia on Thursday, July 28 at 7.30 p.m.

In Australia, episodes are broadcast in 90-minute segments, therefore their final programme will be one hour and thirty minutes longer than ours.

But don’t worry, nothing too revealing will be published until everyone on both sides of the world has seen it, according to the official Neighbours Twitter accounts.

Have we yet learned how Neighbours will end?

Although a new trailer provides some hints, the soap opera’s creators and writers have not yet announced exactly what will happen in the finale.

However, we do know that a number of recognisable cast members will appear in the final episode.

For the show’s long-term watchers, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s comeback as Erinsborough icons truly makes the episode’s conclusion feel like a “fairytale.”

The legendary Charlene Mitchell and Scott Robinson were sighted filming scenes at a site in a Melbourne suburb early this year. They also appear in the most recent trailer for the climax, which is unquestionably going to be quite emotional.

Along with them are Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce from Hollywood, Delta Goodrem, Holly Valance, and Natalie Imbruglia from music, Jesse Spencer from television, and Natalie Bassingthwaite from the band Rogue Traders.

If you’re interested in a potentially huge spoiler, the show’s last scene was the subject of a rumour that surfaced back in May 2022.

Is there anything we can be sure of? There won’t be a literal bang as neighbours part ways.

Contrary to popular belief, Neighbours’ creators confirmed in March 2022 that they would not be destroying Ramsay Street with an explosion.

Executive producer Jason Herbison told TV Tonight: “I would never, ever blow it up.” The conclusion will celebrate both the past and the present while still leaving plenty of room for the future.

Ramsay Street is timeless, and I like to believe that it will continue to exist in viewers’ hearts and thoughts long after the series’ last scene.

Neighbours is ending, but why?

Sadly, it appears that lack of funding was the cause of the show’s cancellation.

It was stated that Channel 5 had decided to discontinue the programme back in February 2022.

It has been a beloved part of our schedule for more than ten years, and we’d like to thank the actors, Fremantle, and the whole production team for their wonderful work on this iconic series, the channel stated in a statement at the time that it would stop airing it in the summer.

Therefore, it was necessary for the production business Fremantle Media and its Australian station, Network 10, to locate a different broadcast partner to aid with funding.

However, on March 3, the official Neighbours Twitter account announced that the show’s revival effort had regrettably failed.

They tweeted: “We are so sorry to announce that Neighbours will cease production in June after over 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast.”

Despite a thorough search for new financing sources and the loss of our main broadcast partner in the UK, we are forced to put the show on hold.

We acknowledge that this is a great disappointment for our amazing, devoted supporters as well as for the entire crew. We appreciate all of your comments and encouragement, and we pledge to end the programme with a bang. We will now be honouring our neighbours.

On Friday at 9 p.m. on Channel 5, Neighbours comes to an end.
