The cast of Home and Away contacted Rebekah Elmaloglou of Neighbours after the show was cancelled to offer their support.

Ray Meagher, who starred in Home and Away, contacted Elmaloglou, who plays Terese Willis on the serial opera, according to Inside Soap, after the shocking news that Neighbours had been cancelled.

She said, “Ray Meagher called me to check how I was. I hadn’t seen him in a long time, but he obtained my number through my brother, a Home and Away crew member.

“He expressed his regret to me, conveyed his love to everyone on Neighbours, and mentioned that the cast of Home and Away was concerned about us and wanted to show their support. They appeared to be pretty stunned by the news, in my opinion.

“It was extremely wonderful of him to call, and it was nice to know that we have the industry behind us,” the celebrity remarked, expressing her appreciation for the gesture.

The former star of Home and Away, Ray Meagher, recently shared his opinion on Neighbours’ conclusion, calling it a “travesty.”

Meagher, who plays Alf Stewart in Summer Bay, described it as “devastating.” It’s very depressing. In that genre, it paved the way. Sales to the BBC of five episodes each week were a first for a soap opera. Not only here but also globally, they were a resounding success. The fact that it’s over is a terrible disgrace.

Georgie Parker, Meagher’s co-star, recently expressed her reaction to Neighbours’ cancellation, telling Digital Spy that the news was “extremely sad for the industry.”

It’s been a fantastic springboard for so many careers, and it’s sad when any programme ends because it marks the end of opportunities as well as a period of a long-running drama and what that means for a nation and the viewing public. It’s very depressing.
