Delta Goodrem has reacted to the sad news that Neighbours is ending after 37 years on the air, following Channel 5’s announcement that the show would be cancelled and an unsuccessful attempt to find a new British broadcaster to assist fund production.
While she is best known for her singing, she made her acting debut in 2002 as Nina Tucker in Neighbours, which she reprised in 2015 for the show’s 30th anniversary.
“It truly is the end of an era @neighbours,” Goodrem captioned a video montage on Instagram. For many people’s careers, including mine, the show was a true school of the industry!!
“The first time I heard Nina perform ‘Born To Try,’ it stayed with me for the rest of my life. the beginning of it all…. and then returning to Erinsborough years later… Walking around set, you always felt at ease!
“Congratulations on a fantastic 37 years to everyone involved, and much love to all of the show’s viewers.” Being a part of it and sharing it with you has been a tremendous experience. ‘Everyone requires decent neighbours.’
While the finale will be emotional, executive producer Jason Herbison has claimed that the final episodes, which have already been plotted out by the storey team, will be more celebratory than explosive.
“I like to imagine that Ramsay Street will live on in the hearts and thoughts of viewers long after the final scene. I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever “he stated.
“The ending will be a celebration of the past and present, with the possibility of a future left open.”
He also stated that he is attempting to get Kylie Minogue to reprise her role as Charlene.
