Britney Spears was originally slated to appear on the serial opera more than 20 years ago, according to former Home and Away actor Christie Hayes.

Britney was selected for a small role in the early 2000s, according to Christie, who intermittently portrayed Kirsty Phillips from 2000 to 2009. Christie made this revelation on her Hit100.9 radio show on Tuesday.

“Her favourite television show was Home and Away. She indicated want to appear on the programme, “said Christie.

Britney’s cameo, which was planned to happen while the pop star was in Australia promoting her movie Crossroads, was much anticipated by the entire cast, according to Christie, with the exception of Ray Meagher.

He realised that would destroy the illusion of the play, so he was like, “oh…probably not a great idea,” she added.

“At the ultimate end, everyone agreed. Britney was inserted into this brief scene as she hurried through the diner. She only had the character name “beautiful girl,” “Chris chuckled.

“I had planned to join her in the scenario. Although it was planned, she regrettably backed out of it because of 9/11. I was devastated.”

Christie claimed that in the Toxic hitmaker’s scene, she would be eating a burger while seated at the diner while Kirsty, Sam Marshall, and Nick Smith would pass by.

“They were going to check her out and ask, “Hey, what are you doing in Summer Bay?” as we were all supposed to pass by her. It didn’t make logic, “She chuckled.

Summer Bay has seen its fair share of celebrity cameos throughout the years, despite the pop star’s disappointment that she was unable to fulfil her ambition of appearing on Home and Away.

Singer Ed Sheeran performed the role of Teddy in 2015, who travelled to the Bay to see his former nanny, Marilyn (Emily Symons.)

Sam Mac, the Sunrise weatherman, Lleyton Hewitt, a tennis star, and John Farnham, a legendary musician, have made other celebrity cameos.
