Fans have hoped that the iconic Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan might reprise their roles for a final farewell to the serial, and Neighbours management have teased the return of great performers for the final ever episodes.
Scott and Charlene have been back on Ramsay Street filming “emotional” scenes, according to Neighbours.
“Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours pair, and it would not feel right to conclude the show without them,” executive producer Jason Herbison said in a statement uploaded to the soap’s official Instagram account.
“We are overjoyed that Jason and Kylie have returned home to play a pivotal role in the series finale.” For them, for us, and I’m sure for our viewers, it’s been an emotional event.”
In addition to the message, the post included two close-up photos of a script with Scott and Charlene’s names written on it. Kylie and Jason both posted a picture of the half of the screenplay to their individual profiles, but they haven’t said anything about how it felt to return.
Neighbours is coming to an end after Channel 5 removed financing for the show, citing a lack of interest from other British broadcasters. Unlike Home and Away, Neighbours has been primarily produced for a British audience for many years.
The final ever episode’s premiere date has already been set, and it’s only a few months away.
