The star of Home and Away, Ada Nicodemou, has shared her favourite kitchen tip for immaculate silverware, and all you need is an unexpected household staple.
Like many Australians, Ada is likewise irritated by her stainless steel silverware turning brown in the dishwasher.
In the video, she remarked, “You know when you take stuff out of the dishwasher and it’s rusty and you can’t get it off?” and then pointed to one of her knives that had brown stains on it.
She recently learned a new aluminium foil hack.
She gave the same knife advice, saying, “You get some alfoil, you scrunch it up, and rub the ball onto the stain.”
Ada was taken aback when the mark came off easily and she was left with a glistening piece of silverware.
“I’m renovating the entire kitchen—this is fantastic!” Ada gushed.
Fantastic Services, an Australian property management firm, claims that while foil lacks cleaning capabilities, aluminium is effective at sparkling cookware and even oven racks.
A couple more disclosed unexpected applications for the indispensable kitchen tool.
“I sharpen my garden secateurs and scissors with aluminium foil,” one person said.
Another person said, “I also clean my car’s rims in this manner before polishing them.”
Another woman said, “Also great for cleaning the bottom of your saucepans.”
Another person wrote, “Steel wool does the same thing.”
An alternative alfoil method that functions similarly was provided by another mother.
Perth, Western Australia resident Carolina Mccauley posted a TikTok video of herself rolling a piece of foil into a ball and then putting it in her dishwasher’s cutlery basket.
The mother of two discovered her shining silverware when she opened the dishwasher after cleaning her dishes and cutlery as normal.
She persisted, “This dishwasher hack will leave your silverware sparkling.”
The dishwasher tablet and aluminium foil react chemically to break down all of the debris, which is why the cleaning procedure is so effective.
