In the new period drama Babylon, Samara Weaving, who featured in Home and Away, will star with Margot Robbie.
The actor will participate in the film alongside Brad Pitt and Katherine Waterston, who played Queenie in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She played Indi Walker in the long-running Australian serial from 2009 to 2013.
Weaving was given to Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Max Minghella of The Handmaid’s Tale this week.
The star-studded cast also includes Diego Calva (Unstoppable), Jovan Adepo (Overlord), Li Jun Li (The Exorcist), Rory Scovel (I Feel Pretty), Lukas Haas (Widows), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), PJ Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street), and Damon Gupton (Criminal Minds).
The film, written and directed by Damien Chazelle of La La Land, is set in the 1920s and has been dubbed “The Great Gatsby on steroids” by industry insiders.
It will be R-rated, according to Deadline, and will depict “the pivotal moment in Hollywood when the motion picture business transitioned from silent cinema to talkies.”
Aside than that, the narrative and characters are being kept under wraps for now.
Over the course of her career, Weaving has been in films such as Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood, Bill & Ted Face the Music, The Babysitter, Monster Trucks, and Ready or Not. Her next project will be Snake Eyes, a new GI Joe spin-off starring Henry Golding.
