When does Neighbours finish? Date of last episode, why soap is ending and how long it’s been on air

Following Channel 5’s decision to cancel the show, producer company Fremantle Media was unable to find a new home for the popular soap.

Stars including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and Margot Robbie got their start in the tea-time drama.

After 30 years apart, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donavan are set to film the final episode, according to reports. For the show’s poignant finale, the two will reconnect as the much-loved characters Charlene and Scott.

“Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them,” executive producer Jason Herbison wrote on the program’s official Twitter account.

When will ‘Neighbours’ air its final episode?

On Monday, August 1, 2022, the final episode of Neighbours will air. It will be televised on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom.

Why is ‘Neighbours’ coming to an end?

Channel 5 announced that Neighbours would be dropped from its schedule to make room for more original UK programmes.

“Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 after this summer,” a representative for the channel said.

“We’d like to congratulate the cast, Fremantle, and the entire production crew for their excellent work on this landmark series, which has been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade.”

“Of course, we’d like to thank the fans for their unwavering support of Neighbours over the years.”

“We understand that this decision will cause sadness; but, our present priority is on boosting our investment in original UK drama, which has a great appeal among our viewers.”

When did the first episode of ‘Neighbours’ air?

The serial began airing in 1945 and is Australia’s longest-running show. Regardless, it has always been more popular in the United Kingdom than in Australia.

In the United Kingdom, Neighbours has over one million viewers, however in Australia, it is broadcast on a digital channel with a lower audience.

Neighbours first aired on BBC One before moving to Channel 5 in 2008.

“@neighbours transformed the Australian television scene,” tweeted Jason Donovan, who played Scott Robinson from 1986 to 1989. Many professions, including mine, have been launched as a result of it throughout the years.”
