Neighbours actor Jemma Donovan is contemplating her future after learning that the Australian serial may be cancelled after 37 years due to a lack of funding from Channel 5.

Although she is best recognised for her role as Harlow Robinson, Jemma has stated that she would like to pursue a different type of drama next.

“I’ve been acting since I was twelve years old. Before Neighbours, I did a lot of other things. I’ve worked with kids before, and now I’m working on a soap “she stated.

“At the moment, my ambition is to star in a period drama.” That’s exactly what I’d like to do. It would also transport me back to my hometown, which I believe would be fantastic. I’ve never done anything like that before.

“So, for me, it doesn’t really matter as long as I’m doing what I love for the rest of my life.” As long as I’m content, that is. I’ll also go by ear, because I’m that way in life, and see what I want to do on any given day. I adore acting and it’s one of my greatest passions, so I’d love to perform a historical drama. Something along those lines would be fantastic.”

When asked about the conclusion, Donovan promised that the audience will be “blown away” by what the team has planned.

Harlow will be travelling to London for a while before the show’s conclusion, catching up with her aunt Harriet (Amanda Holden) following her stormy fling with Ned Willis, and a romance could be on the cards.
