Network Ten has revealed a new airdate for the final Neighbours episode, which will undoubtedly be an emotional conclusion as viewers count down the days before it airs.

The final episode of the Australian soap opera has now been moved up to July 28 from its original air date of August 1.

The series is presently showing on 10 Peach, but the network has stated that the grand finale will air on their main channel.

It’s time to say goodbye to Neighbours, the Network said in a statement. “After 37 years, 8903 episodes, innumerable marriages, deaths, births, and tragedies, it’s time to say goodbye to Neighbours.”

On Thursday, July 28 at 7.30 p.m., “the riveting and moving 90-minute finale of Australia’s longest-running drama will be broadcast on 10 and 10 Peach.”

The last few months have been difficult for the series.

The show’s network, Channel 5, which pays for the majority of production costs and broadcasts it in the UK, said in February that it would no longer air, therefore eliminating funding as well.

At the time, a representative for the network announced that “Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer.”

“For more than a decade, it has been a much-anticipated component of our schedule, and we’d want to congratulate the actors, Fremantle, and the entire production crew for their amazing work on this legendary series.

“Of course, we’d also like to thank the viewers for their enduring support of Neighbours. Although we are aware that this choice will cause disappointment, our present priority is to increase our investment in original UK drama, which is very popular with our audience.

Former and current celebrities fought for extra funds for weeks, but eventually there was no white knight in the distance to save the day.

The official Twitter account for the programme acknowledged what was already obvious: the programme will terminate.

The Twitter message stated, “We are so sad to report that Neighbours will cease production in June after almost 37 years and around 9000 episodes broadcast.”

The statement read, “We just have no choice except to rest the show.”

We acknowledge that this is a great disappointment for our wonderful, devoted fans as well as for the entire team. We appreciate all of your comments and encouragement, and we pledge to end the programme with a bang. We will now be honouring our neighbours.

Producers announced in May that numerous previous cast members from every era will return for the last farewell.

Those confirmed to appear included Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Daniel MacPherson, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, and Olympia Valance.

On June 10, the program’s official conclusion was announced, and this week’s last media event was held.

Clare Rigden, the Screen Queen for the West Australian, attended the media conference in Melbourne.

From the show’s set, Rigden told PerthNow, “The end of an era.”

“Paying a visit to the Neighbours set before bidding Ramsay Street one last farewell. Only four weeks remain, and I know you guys will enjoy the final-episode storylines they have in store for us. Sob.”

On Monday, July 25, Network 10 will start a last week that cannot be missed.
