The final episode of the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours will include Margot Robbie, an Oscar-nominated actor, along with a few other worldwide celebrities returning to Ramsay Street.

The 32-year-old actress, who played Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film and appeared in The Suicide Squad, will reprise her role as Donna Freedman in the Australian serial opera.

From 2008 through 2011, Robbie’s persona was a regular on Neighbours.

After 327 episodes, her soap opera contract expired, and she was given the option of renewing it. She later received a role in the US TV drama Pan Am, which is set in the 1960s and features cabin crews.

The news was announced in a tweet on Saturday from the Neighbours UK Twitter account. Along with the announcements of other previous stars, such as Delta Goodrem and House actor Jesse Spencer, Robbie’s comeback was made.

“Surprise! Did you really believe we were finished? Margot Robbie, Jesse Spencer, Delta Goodrem, Kym Valentine, and Carla Bonner will all feature in our finale, we’re excited to announce!

The Australian soap opera, which had been broadcast for 37 years, would finish in March, according to news reports, since its creators Fremantle were unable to find a replacement UK broadcaster.

Channel 5 in the UK had stated in February that it will stop airing the programme.

“We presently have no choice but to rest the show,” a Fremantle spokeswoman stated. “Following the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK, and despite a hunt for alternative funding, we have no choice.”

With 9,000 episodes produced, Neighbours is the longest-running drama on Australian television and has been a huge hit in Britain for almost 40 years.

The daily life of the Ramsay Street residents continue to draw 1.5 million UK viewers.

Robbie, Russell Crowe, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and Guy Pearce were just a few of the celebrities whose international careers were established by the Australian serial opera.

On July 29, fans in the UK will see the show’s concluding credits. A two-part finale of Neighbours will air on Channel 5, where it has been supported since 2008.

Along with a number of other past stars like Pearce, Daniel MacPherson, and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Charlene Mitchell of Kylie Minogue and Scott Robinson of Jason Donovan will also be back for the finale.
