Tane expresses her disapproval right away and challenges Mac to think carefully about whether she truly wants to devote so much time and energy to a man who would mercilessly cheat on his wife.
Tane’s remarks make Mac feel severely judged, so he subsequently apologises and acknowledges that he was projecting his own marital problems onto her.

Later in the week, Tane informs Mali Hudson that not much is left in the Bay for him and that he wants to return to New Zealand permanently.
Felicity, who feels compelled to confront Tane and enquire as to why she needed to hear the news from Mali, is alerted by Mali.
Tane clarifies that he isn’t leaving town to harm her and gives his reasons for doing so. Felicity insists that the Bay is large enough for them both and questions the necessity of making such a major change.
Felicity assures Tane that she’s prepared to move on and that she’ll always want the best for him as the topic of their inevitable future dating evolves.
Tane decides to stay for the time being after hearing Felicity’s reassuring remarks, but will Felicity keep her word?
