Since Tane from Home and Away is the last surviving member of the Parata tribe in Summer Bay, fans were understandably ecstatic to see Ethan Browne reunited with his soap family.

Fans of Home and Away rejoiced over the reunion of the Parata family.

The lone surviving Parata clan member in the soap opera is Tane, portrayed by Ethan Browne. In the 2019 series finale of the soap opera, which had multiple characters being held captive at gunpoint in the local hospital, Rob Kipa-Williams’ character Ari Parata, his brother, made his debut in Summer Bay.

January 2020 saw the debut of Ari and Tane’s nephew Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo), while Tane arrived in the Bay a month later. Now that the three have reconnected, Ethan has called it a “rare sighting”.
The actor wrote, posing with his fictional family, “A rare sighting indeed. Kia ora, my bros.” Rob made a joke about the death of his character, saying, “Parata boys in da house… ghosts are real.”

Fans of Home and Away went crazy with the reunion and flocked to the comments section. In one, it said, “The boys are back in town.”

Someone another wrote: “The reunion we all needed.” One more person commented, “Aww, I miss seeing you all together in Home and Away.” Another four people echoed this, saying, “Summer Bay just isn’t the same without you all.”

Someone else concurred: “The Paratas are back together! The get-together that we’ve all desired! Ari, RIP!” The Parata family was the first Māori and indigenous family to be cast as part of the soap opera’s core cast.

When Ari’s uncommon type of cancer was discovered in 2022, the family’s entire world fell apart. Ari wanted to pass away on his own terms, therefore he refused treatment even though the cancer spread fast. In March of 2022, a few weeks following his diagnosis, Ari passed away.

It was far less painful for Nikau to leave Summer Bay because he eventually found happiness with his on-again, off-again lover Bella Nixon (Courtney Miller). Bella came back from New York over a year after Ari passed away to see Dean (Paddy O’Connor) and Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) after they had a baby.

When she and Nikau crossed paths, they ended up getting back together. With Bella’s approval, Nikau and his uncle Tane relocated to the United States. After losing his family, Tane has experienced turmoil, and he and his wife Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) recently got divorced.

Tane announced to Mali (Kyle Shilling) on Thursday’s (April 4) episode of the Channel 5 soap opera that he was returning to New Zealand. Tane chose to stay, at least for the time being, after Felicity informed him that she was prepared to move on.
