Since Ari’s (Rob Kipa-Wiliams) arrest for Matthew’s (James Sweeny) murder in Home and Away, Chloe (Sam Barrett) has been withdrawing, knowing that her stepfather is likely facing life in prison for her own mistake.
Chloe and Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) battle with the fact that Ari could be gone to them permanently after the family visits him in remand.
Mia (Anna Samson) tries to keep the family together by organising a supper to cheer them up.
When the topic of the wedding comes up, Chloe and Nikau grow even more upset – why pretend there’s a happily ever after when there isn’t?
Tane (Ethan Browne) takes Nikau under his wing and the two go camping together, but Mia is left at home with a depressed Chloe.
Mia feels frantic after numerous attempts to persuade her daughter to open up, and while she’s out, she goes to her room, takes her journal and flipping through the pages.
‘I am responsible for so many things that have been wrecked as a result of my actions. Mum shouldn’t have had me in the first place. I was not supposed to be born. If I hadn’t been here, none of this would have occurred, and everyone would be better off.’
Chloe is enraged when Mia confronts her about the diary. How could her mother infringe on her personal space like that?
Mia implores Chloe to speak up, but she has just exacerbated the problem. However, one thing remains: Chloe’s diary must be destroyed since it could be used as evidence if the police search the property.
