I’ve been anticipating this day for some time.
After his grandfather Lionel Ryan passed away peacefully on September 6, former Home and Away star Jake Ryan wrote a moving tribute to him yesterday (September 7).
Ryan toasted to “the king of the Ryan clan” with a set of romantic images he shared on his Instagram.
Photographs of a colourfully attired Lionel, images of the two, and images of Lionel with his grandchildren, including Jake’s son Wolf, whom he shares with fiancée Alice Quiddington, were all included in the collection.
Pop, Red, Redbull, the king of the Ryan clan died away in his sleep gently last night, and I’ve been dreading this day for a while, Ryan wrote in the caption.
He was “The Ryan family,” and his absence has left a very large hole. Ryan continued: “Can’t find the words or fathom the enormity of this loss just yet.
I’m sorry to those who never got the opportunity to speak with him or have a conversation. Already miss you a much, Pop. Rest certain that Aaron is watching over you up there, and you can relax. XXX”
Several of Ryan’s three-year Home and Away co-stars offered their support in the post’s comments section, including Penny McNamee, who played Tori Morgan: “Sending you so much love Jakey. Xxx.”
Sam Frost, who played Ryan’s on-screen wife Jasmine, posted on Twitter, “Sending love Jakey,” while Jackson Heywood, who plays Brody Morgan, wrote, “Big love mate. My condolences for your loss.
Ryan played the notoriously and dramatically killed Ryan Shaw in the January 2020 season opener of Home and Away, which he appeared in from 2017 to 2020.
Ryan left the show to pursue film opportunities.
