Fans of the renowned soap opera Neighbours gathered in Melbourne for a special screening of the final episode as it comes to an end after 37 years.

As the eagerly awaited end of Ramsay Street was shown in Australia on Thursday, July 28, viewers of all ages gathered at Federation Square in Melbourne to bid the show a final farewell.

Screens displayed quotes from audience members discussing what Neighbours meant to them, while some attendees carried cardboard cutouts of Paul Robinson and Karl Kennedy.

You’re crying, not you.

As a result of Channel 5’s contentious decision to remove Neighbours from their schedule in favour of “original UK drama,” which the broadcaster believes has a “strong appeal” for viewers, it was announced earlier this year that the show will end after 37 years.

The production business Fremantle had intended to replace Channel 5 with another UK broadcasting partner, but they were soon forced to concede defeat.

On Friday, July 29, the final episode of Neighbours will show in the UK. It is anticipated that this episode will honour everything Neighbours is, was, and yet could’ve been.

Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy, responded to a question about whether the series finale was a celebration of the show’s overall legacy, saying, “That’s exactly what the storyliners and the executive producer were aiming for.”

There will be a few charming small turns to keep the audience interested. Without that, Neighbours wouldn’t be Neighbours!

But there will also be a festive atmosphere surrounding the show. When it airs on July 29, there will be a few tears in a few living rooms!

The actress who plays Nicolette Stone, Charlotte Chimes, added that she was really upset to learn that the show was coming to an end.

She informed us that it happens in waves. I’m extremely sad, you know. I’m eager for the upcoming trip, but at the same time.

I’m incredibly sad for all of the fans and the Australian entertainment sector. A crucial training ground for the actors and crew is being lost. I go through phases of extreme sadness, thinking things like, “I’m going to truly miss this,” and “There will definitely be a grieving time.”

Several well-known actors who got their start on Neighbours, including Margot Robbie, Jason Donovan, and Kylie Minogue, are all scheduled to return in the last episode.

Along with Jesse Spencer (Billy Kennedy), Carla Bonner (Steph Scully), Delta Goodrem (Nina Tucker), Kym Valentine (Libby Kennedy), and Kym Valentine (Billy Kennedy), there are rumours that Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia might also make an appearance.

Talk about ending on a high note!

Neighbors: The Finale airs on Channel 5 on Friday, July 29 at 9 p.m.
