Does Hendrix die in Neighbours and is star Ben Turland leaving?


In this week’s episode of Neighbours, Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland) is due to undergo significant surgery, putting his life in jeopardy.

As viewers are aware, the popular figure became concerned about his health many months ago after developing a terrible cough.

His cough persisted, so he went to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and told that his only option for therapy was a lung transplant.

Hendrix was upset, but despite his fears that he would not be able to receive a transplant, things began to look up for him when he received a call from the hospital informing him that a match had become available.


The mainstay of the Australian soap opted to marry Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone), the love of his life, and the two tied the knot in beautiful scenes last week.

But the focus quickly shifted to Hendrix’s lung transplant, and he was whisked away for the crucial surgery as the credits rolled on Friday’s (June 10) episode of the serial drama.

The family of Jimi Hendrix initially hopeful, but things quickly turn sour, with Monday’s visit to Ramsay Street sure to be especially sad.

Is Hendrix killed off in Neighbours?

The procedure appears to be a success at first, but Hendrix is later informed that he just has hours to survive. To put it another way, he does, tragically, die.


Hendrix’s body rejects the lungs immediately after the operation, resulting in tragedy.

He is devastated, but he battles through the anguish, attempting to savour his final moments with his loved ones before passing away.

The news of Jimi Hendrix’s death makes its way down Ramsay Street, and emotions are running high.


Sadie Rodwell (Emerald Chan) blames herself for what has transpired, while Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) attempts to help Mackenzie, and Kiri Hua Durant (Gemma Bird Mattheson) stands with Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly).

Meanwhile, Zara Zelwyn (Freya Van Dyke) discloses that Hendrix was working on a secret project for his family, a DVD.

His family and friends view the video and are blown away, grateful to hear from Hendrix one last time.

Is Ben Turland on his way out of Neighbours?

Yes, Ben Turland will depart from Neighbours, bowing out as Hendrix in scenes set to air this week, as the character tragically dies.

This scenario is said to have been planned before the news of Neighbours’ untimely cancellation, as Ben had previously agreed to quit the show at the conclusion of his current contract.

‘While it was really full-on, it really tested my acting skills, and I loved the whole process,’ Ben said of Hendrix’s final plotline on Inside Soap.


‘It was an extremely intense scene with Mackenzie and the Kennedys having to say goodbye to him and letting him know it was okay for him to let go,’ says the author.

Fans of Neighbours, grab your tissues because this is going to be a tough one to watch!
