In this week’s episode of Neighbours, Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland) is due to undergo significant surgery, putting his life in jeopardy.

As viewers are aware, the popular figure became concerned about his health many months ago after developing a terrible cough.

His cough persisted, so he went to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and told that his only option for therapy was a lung transplant.

Hendrix was upset, but despite his fears that he would not be able to receive a transplant, things began to look up for him when he received a call from the hospital informing him that a match had become available.

The mainstay of the Australian soap opted to marry Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone), the love of his life, and the two tied the knot in beautiful scenes last week.

But the focus quickly shifted to Hendrix’s lung transplant, and he was whisked away for the crucial surgery as the credits rolled on Friday’s (June 10) episode of the serial drama.

Hendrix’s body rejects the lungs immediately after the operation, resulting in tragedy.

Yes, Ben Turland will depart from Neighbours, bowing out as Hendrix in scenes set to air this week, as the character tragically dies.

This scenario is said to have been planned before the news of Neighbours’ untimely cancellation, as Ben had previously agreed to quit the show at the conclusion of his current contract.

‘While it was really full-on, it really tested my acting skills, and I loved the whole process,’ Ben said of Hendrix’s final plotline on Inside Soap.

‘It was an extremely intense scene with Mackenzie and the Kennedys having to say goodbye to him and letting him know it was okay for him to let go,’ says the author.
