Home and Away Spoilers: Marilyn’s Good Intentions Bring Danger to Zane’s Door
Marilyn’s determination to give Zane a second chance is about to backfire badly in Summer Bay. This week in Australia, an uninvited visitor turns Summer Bay House into a powder keg, and the police are called before the day is out. Elsewhere, Mackenzie is carrying news so painful she can barely say it out loud.
A Fresh Start That Can’t Outrun the Past
Zane (Angus McColl) has spent his time since prison trying to rebuild, and Marilyn (Emily Symons) has stood firmly in his corner. But his past is never far away. Zane served ten years for a burglary that ended in tragedy: when the family’s father confronted him, Zane panicked and swung a baseball bat at a movement nearby. He didn’t know it was nine-year-old Heidi.
With Marilyn’s encouragement, Zane wrote Heidi a letter of apology. The reply was crushing. Her family sent medical reports describing the serious brain injury she still lives with, along with a note making it clear they would never forgive him.
Zane was left with a painful question: how does he move forward when Heidi never got the chance to?
Marilyn Makes a Move Behind Zane’s Back
Watching Zane struggle, Marilyn spotted the contact details of Heidi’s brother, Austin, among the paperwork and decided to act. David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) had advised against any further contact, but she called Austin anyway, without telling Zane. She hoped that hearing how hard Zane was working to change might soften him.
It had the opposite effect. Austin turned up at the diner furious and had little sympathy to spare. He told Marilyn that Heidi can’t even read the apology, that she depends on a carer, and that the future Zane is being urged to embrace is exactly what she has been denied. When Marilyn suggested contact might help both sides, his anger only grew. Learning that Zane was living with her, he told her to stay out of their lives and walked out.
But he wasn’t finished. Austin followed Marilyn home and appeared at Summer Bay House, demanding to know where Zane was.
“However Long It Takes”
Marilyn quickly realises she can’t talk him into leaving. Austin plans to wait for Zane however long that takes, and he wants Zane to suffer for what he did to Heidi. Marilyn tries to draw his fury toward herself by admitting the letter was her idea, but he has no patience for her reasoning.
Meanwhile, at the surf club, Alf (Ray Meagher), back from Merimbula, is catching up with Mali (Kyle Shilling) when Mali realises he has forgotten a driving lesson with Zane. Alf offers to drive Zane home, and neither of them knows what is waiting for them.
The moment Zane walks through the door, Austin’s anger boils over. After shouting at Marilyn and Alf, he pushes Zane against the wall, finally face to face with the man who changed his sister’s life. Austin grows more threatening, and Zane treads carefully, refusing to hit back.
The Police Arrive
Alf quietly manages to alert the police without Austin noticing. David arrives with other officers and breaks up the confrontation before taking Austin away.
Zane’s Choice at the Station
At the station, the question is whether Zane wants to take things further. David is prepared to handle Austin with a warning. Alf isn’t happy about Austin walking away unpunished, but he agrees with Marilyn that the decision belongs to Zane.
Zane decides not to press charges. He doesn’t want to put Heidi’s family through any more misery.
Austin is allowed to leave. He apologises to Marilyn on the way out, but he insists that Zane must never contact his family again.
Marilyn is moved by Zane’s decision and confesses that this all happened because she went against his wishes. Zane is surprisingly understanding, telling her that no one has ever gone to such lengths to help him. Alf is far less forgiving, and once Zane has gone to bed, Marilyn has some explaining to do.

Mackenzie Faces an Impossible Conversation
While Zane’s drama unfolds, Mackenzie (Emily Weir) is dealing with heartbreak of her own. With Levi’s (Tristan Gorey) sister Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) fighting for her life, Mac has to break more terrible news.
Last week, an email from the IVF clinic reached her while she was working at Salt. She made an excuse and left, but Mali followed and found her in tears. All the frozen embryos she and Levi had stored were gone.
The timing couldn’t be worse. Levi had just learned that he’d missed the window for surgery on his injured hand. He delayed it to find out whether he could be a stem cell donor for Eden, and now scar tissue makes the procedure much harder. Mac suggested a second opinion, but Levi asked her to let it go, because with Eden so ill he couldn’t put himself first.
A Door Closes on Their Hopes
This week, Mac explains to Mali that she and Levi hadn’t given up on trying IVF again. After their second miscarriage a few months ago they weren’t making immediate plans, but having embryos in storage meant they could revisit the idea when they were ready.
Now that option is gone, and Mac fears what another blow will do to Levi. Mali reminds her that Levi would want to know so they can face the loss together, but that doesn’t make it easier, and she keeps putting it off when Levi arrives. With one more gentle nudge from Mali, she finally tells him that all their remaining embryos have been destroyed.
