An Apology That Opens Old Wounds
For decades, Zane (Angus McColl) has carried the guilt of one terrible moment. During a bungled robbery, he panicked and accidentally struck a woman named Heidi with a bat. Recently, he decided it was time to face what he did and sent her a heartfelt apology letter.
Marilyn (Emily Symons) was the one who encouraged him to reach out. Inspired by his courage, she took a step of her own and phoned Heidi’s older brother, Austin. She never expected what happened next.
Austin didn’t reply with a letter or a call. He turned up in Summer Bay, and he was looking for Zane.
A Brother Who Has Not Forgiven
This was no gentle reunion. Austin has spent years watching the consequences of that day play out in his sister’s life. Heidi will need a carer for the rest of her life, and he made it clear to Marilyn that he will never forgive the man responsible.
Marilyn tried her best to calm him down and reason with him, but Austin wasn’t budging. He wanted Zane to pay.
Then Zane arrived with Alf (Ray Meagher) beside him, and Austin didn’t hesitate. He launched himself at Zane, pinned him against the wall and screamed into his face, unleashing years of pain and anger in a single terrifying moment.

While the drama unfolds at the Bay’s edge, another storyline is heating up. Abigail (Hailey Pinto) gets the shock of her life when her ex-boyfriend Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) reappears in Summer Bay.
Their reunion starts with a warm embrace. Overwhelmed, Abigail pours out everything going on in her family life, and Richie is there to listen. But then she realises she never asked the most important question: why is he back?
Richie Wants Her Back
Richie explains that he has accepted he won’t be returning to the police force. But he couldn’t stay away, and he admits he wants Abigail back.
Rocco Forrester-Sach says it won’t be easy for his character. Richie has had to find other work and is dealing with the community’s scorn. According to Rocco, he knows he has to learn from his mistakes if he and Abigail are ever to reunite.
