Patrick O’Connors and Sophie Dillman of Home and Away have talked openly about their new lives in London.
Prior to travelling across the globe this year, actors Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni packed up their homes in Australia.
They indicated that their current priorities are travel and that they do not currently have any plans to return home.
Sophie has been exploring new artistic fields; she even contributes pieces to Yahoo Australia.
It’s incredibly amazing, she said to RSVP Live. I’ve always wanted to try something like that and employ my artistic side, but I’ve never really got the chance.
“I made a leap of faith and enquired as to whether I might be able to do it. When I contacted Yahoo, they embraced the idea and were quite supportive. It’s been a lot of fun, and I’ve loved stretching myself and using a different creative portion of my brain.
“I sincerely hope it continues, or I may end up with additional work as a result.”
She enjoys both of them and would not, however, imagine giving up acting entirely for writing.
“I consider the balance to be ideal. Although I wouldn’t describe myself as very brilliant, she continued, “I’ve been loving writing.
“It would be awesome to have a little bit of both in my life in the future.”
Patrick said he wouldn’t be following in Sophie’s footsteps but added that he is interested in other forms of creativity.
I’m a lousy writer. I’m not helping anyone by doing that. Before Home and Away, I worked in a photography studio.
“I always thought that I might run a studio like that at some point, but for the time being, acting seems to occupy the majority of my brain,” the speaker said.
While Sophie and Patrick have been having fun exploring Europe, they both would be open to acting roles in British films and television programmes.
“We’d both be thrilled to work here, doing any kind of creative work. Just a short respite before we go back into it,” Sophie explained.
We intend to work here and stay for a while.
The performers said they would want to be joined by their families when they ultimately receive children, but neither of them has urgent plans to return to Australia after departing earlier this year.
“Probably,” responded Patrick. There are both of our families, and eventually we want to start a family.
“Even though I think it’s great here [in the UK], you do need a support system. We do, however, genuinely love Australia.
“I believe Soph misses the beach at its core as well. She truly misses the seashore, even though we’ve only been gone from home for six months.
In jest, Sophie said, “I’ve really lost a part of my soul not having a beach nearby.”
We have a lot more exploring to do, she continued, “but I do think we’ll eventually go home.”
This summer, the pair will visit Ireland to meet with their admirers and devotees of the television show Home and Away.
On July 15, they’ll be in Wexford; on July 16, they’ll be in Waterford and Limerick.
We were aware that there was a crowd here, but we weren’t fully aware of its size until we got there, said Sophie. It’s been quite incredible.
