Penny McNamee, who starred in Home and Away, is leaving the show.
The 38-year-old actress, who has portrayed Dr. Tori Morgan on the blockbuster programme since 2016, said she left to focus on her singing career and spend more time with her family.
She expressed satisfaction with how her character’s tale concludes, with a dream wedding and a transfer to London.
‘Who doesn’t enjoy a good wedding storey? Penny told the newspaper, “It’s the ideal send-off for my character.”
‘I’m not the type of person who looks behind. ‘I’m a firm believer in seasons, and quitting the programme felt like the end of a season to me.’
Penny went on to say that she is “hugely thankful” for her time on the programme, which she joined in 2016.
She claimed she enjoyed her time on the serial as a female doctor and would miss her co-stars and staff, particularly James Stewart, who she said would make her ‘belly laugh’ all day.
Penny stated that she is looking forward to spending more time at home with her family and that she would consider returning to work next year.
She also said that after beginning out in musical theatre, she is now concentrating on her singing career.
On September 27, Penny’s character will marry onscreen in what is being termed the ‘wedding of the year.’
Tori will marry Christian, her doctor partner, played by Ditch Davey.
On Wednesday, a teaser trailer for the highly awaited episode debuted, including a montage of the onscreen couple’s most romantic moments.
Tori was later seen in the video coming down the aisle in a gorgeous white lace bridal gown.
The apprehensive groom turned around as she approached Christian during the outdoor ceremony, bursting into a relieved grin.
‘I never found real love. Tori remarked in a voiceover, ‘It found me.’
The wedding of Tori and Christian will appear on Channel Seven’s Home and Away on September 27 at 7 p.m.
