The news that Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will be returning to Neighbours before the show’s finale was confirmed by the stars.

As one could assume, supporters are completely out of their minds.

The duo, who played fan favourites Charlene and Scott Robinson on the show in the 1980s, shared one side of what looks to be a close-up image of a Neighbours script on Instagram, breaking their silence on the rumours.

While Kylie’s post featured the first half of the show’s title and the name Scott, Jason’s featured the second half of the title, a portion of Charlene’s name, and Ramsay Street, the cul-de-sac where the show’s characters live.

Jason also included a mention to Kylie in his caption… So this can only mean one thing, right?

Given that almost 20 million people tuned in to watch Charlene and Scott’s wedding in 1987, we believe their comeback would elicit an even greater response from fans.

In March of this year, it was revealed that Neighbours will be ending after nearly 40 years on the air.

While fans are still grieving over the news, and many are likely hoping that the soap may be salvaged, the reunion of Charlene and Scott is certain to bring a smile to their faces.

Fans who saw Kylie and Jason’s Instagram images couldn’t stop themselves from commenting, with one saying, ‘Back to close out the show!’ We’re excited to see it.’

‘Wow, this is incredible. It’s terrible that it’s coming to an end, but it’s great that it’ll go out on a high note! X.’ Someone else mentioned it.

‘It’s happening!!!’ wrote another enthusiast. Jason and Kylie have returned to Neighbours!!’ ‘Yes!!!’ exclaimed someone else. ‘The happy conclusion we’ve been waiting for!’

Scott and Charlene are expected to feature in the last episode of the show, which will premiere in Australia on Monday, August 1.

Jason came out against the cancellation of Neighbours earlier this year, saying that it was time to ‘celebrate’ the long-running sitcom.

‘To be honest, it’s kept my family working for a long time!’ ‘My daughter and father are both in it,’ he stated at the time.

‘Actors, producers, writers, and directors should be grateful for what it has given Australia.’
