On Heartbreak High, Ada Nicodemou admitted that she is unable to watch herself.
Fearing embarrassment over her 16-year-old self’s acting abilities, the 44-year-old claimed she is too afraid to watch the 1990s series.
‘I just can’t watch it because I’m too terrified to see what my acting and dancing were like,’ she said on the Hit Network to Hughesy, Ed, and Erin.
Ada continued by praising the show and pointing out how unique it was at the time. ‘It was so innovative at the time,’ she remarked.
‘It featured people who looked like me on it, which we’d never seen on Australian television before.’
‘I think it still holds up, but I’m afraid to see it.’
The star of Home and Away also talked about the pressure of walking the red carpet ahead of the upcoming Logie Awards.
‘It’s just good to be secure and sure of yourself on the red carpet,’ she explained.
‘It’s extremely intimidating.’
With the addition of Heartbreak High on Netflix, a whole new generation of fans has emerged.
The success of the 1990s show prompted a revival, which will premiere in 2022.
It will be inspired by the original, but remade for a new generation, according to an official press release from 2021.
The relaunch will feature a diverse cast, including LGBTQ+ characters as well as neurodiversity.
