Matt Evans of Home and Away has spoken up about his passion of music and whether he plans to pursue a career as a singer in the future.
Last year, Matt, a former participant on The Voice Australia, was cast as Theo Poulos on the serial. He was recently nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the Logies, which has previously been won by some big stars in the soap industry.
While he enjoys music, he has expressed reservations about pursuing a full-time career as a travelling musician.
Matt commented in the most recent issue of TV Week: “Since I began acting, I’ve had a lot of fun. It’s a new talent I’m learning, and I’m going along for the journey and loving it, but music has always been my passion.
“I’ve always wanted to be a performer and a musician, so I’m open to either.”
While Matt enjoys singing, the prospect of spending a lot of time on the road performing his songs does not appeal to him.
“I’m not sure how enthusiastic I am about the prospect of being a travelling artist,” he explained.
“I’m pretty unsure about anything, but I think there’s a certain beauty in being open-minded and accepting whatever comes my way.
“It seems foolish when I say it out loud, but I’ve always had this worry of being too old to break through in the music industry,” he continued.
Matt recently had the opportunity to demonstrate his musical abilities as part of a Home and Away plotline, when Theo wowed Chloe with a song during a picnic together.
