Christie Hayes has shared personal details of her tragic miscarriage.
The 37-year-old former cast member of Home and Away was expecting her first child in 2024 with her spouse, radio DJ Justin Coombes-Pearce.
The former actress claimed that when she learned she was pregnant, “the stars all aligned” in an interview with New Idea magazine.
Christie, however, miscarried as the family started telling friends and family that she was expecting.
“Our baby’s loss tore my heart apart,” she said to the newspaper. Justin was also inconsolable.
I should be substantially pregnant by now. Even now, I cry when I need to. I gave in to my grief.
The radio personality informed her listeners of the devastating news a week after she lost her pregnancy.
“I experienced a miscarriage seven days ago,” she added. It has been seven days since our kid died. The child we were deeply in love with and desperately desired.
“In the end, I now live with what happened,” she continued. As my pregnancy came to a conclusion, I went through “end of pregnancy.” I don’t think our child is gone.
Christie married Justin in May 2021. Christie and her ex-husband Daniel White have two sons, Hendrix and Harley.
The Hit Network star is being “realistic,” but she still feels “hopeful” about having more children.
She continued, “We are living and loving our lives and believe that if it is meant to be, it will happen.”
Christie played Kirsty Sutherland on Home and Away from 2000 until 2009; she then gave up acting to pursue a career in radio, where she eventually met Justin.
During a romantic late-night picnic near their South Coast home in NSW on New Year’s Eve 2019, the pair got engaged.
The way it was done was easy. It was a stunning location. Cheese, champagne, and chocolate-covered strawberries were served. That was the most lovely and considerate surprise,’ she remarked at the time to New Idea magazine.
Reach for the Sky is an old book that Justin disclosed he had concealed the engagement ring in—a phrase they both often utter.
Christie was previously married to actor Greg Hatton and Daniel White, with whom she had two kids, eight-year-old Harley and nine-year-old Hendrix. This is Christie’s third marriage.
