Following the targeting of his family by a biker gang, Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) just took the painful decision to end his relationship with Bella (Courtney Miller). He contacted her as she was getting ready to go home and instructed her not to bother coming back in order to keep her safe.
Nikau’s realisation that he will never see Bella again is starting to sink in now that the greatest threat has passed. Bella opted not to return to Australia at all and to instead continue pursuing her photographic career in New York after coping with the unexpected separation.
Nikau determines it’s time to save his relationship and the only way to do it is by travelling to New York as he witnesses other happily married couples around him, including Tane (Ethan Browne) and Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) in his own home. They’ve been through too much already to give up on their relationship now, after all.
Later, Nikau is seen by Dean (Patrick O’Connor) at the airport pleading for his life. He recognises what is occurring right away and stops him. He’s visiting Bella for what reason? He wants an explanation from Nikau out of concern for her, especially given that she is still reeling from the separation.
Since Felicity informed him of the truth of the biker group, Dean can now understand why Nikau actually broke up with Bella, as he expresses his displeasure that she is no longer returning his calls.
Will Dean provide transportation for Nikau to the airport so the two can meet up in New York City?
