In Australia, Neighbours has already aired its final episode before it airs in the UK on Channel 5 tonight (Friday, July 29).

The storied soap opera has ended its 37-year run with a spectacular closing episode that featured the return of several well-known actors, including Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue.

But Home and Away has paid respect to another Australian soap opera, demonstrating that they are truly good neighbours.

Tweeted by the soap: “Hats off to Ramsay Street’s incredible cast and crew for an amazing 37 years. An legendary episode of @neighbours will always be remembered in Australian television history.

Massive respect and admiration from everyone in the Bay for you.

The official Neighbours account then shared the article and left a “Big love to Summer Bay” comment.

Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts in Home and Away, also paid tribute on Twitter, writing: “A big thank you to the entire cast and crew of #Neighbours. Present and past. Thanks for the memories and chookas for the future.

“I’m currently in the UK, so I’ll miss (or have missed) the conclusion, but I’ll make sure to watch it when I get back. The greatest love from a fellow fan of #AussieSoap.”

Even though Neighbours may be departing our screens for long, fans in the UK will have a chance to bid the soap farewell properly when it embarks on an official farewell tour in 2019.

For the live show, cast members Ryan Moloney, Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher, and April Rose Pengilly have already been revealed, and more will follow soon.
