Once Neighbours ends permanently on Channel 5, Home and Away will move to a different time period.

The long-running Summer Bay serial has been broadcast at 1.15pm for a number of years, but it will change after Neighbours’ final episode has aired.

The final schedules for the first week of August, when Neighbours is no longer airing, were revealed today (July 20).

Home and Away will move to the time slot that used to be occupied by Neighbours at 1.45 p.m., according to Channel 5.

Home and Away’s evening repeat will continue to air on 5STAR at 6 o’clock. Some viewers had questioned whether it might move back into a 6 o’clock time slot on Channel 5 now that Neighbours is no longer airing, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

As per customary, the first-look screening will start at 6.30 p.m. on 5STAR.

Greg Barnett, who supervises Home and Away for Channel 5, recently discussed the future of the serial opera with Digital Spy in an exclusive interview.

In his words: “A few new faces are set to come in the Bay, some of whom will have locals and watchers on pins and needles about their true motives, and someone is likely to get shot.

“As we approach the program’s 35th anniversary the following year, there will be plenty of teasers and footage on the UK Home and Away Facebook page. Of course, we’ll also continue to support the show with promotions and cast outings. thrilling moments”
