After the current season of Neighbours concludes, actress Rebekah Elmaloglou, who has been portraying Terese Willis since 2013, said she would like to take part in a UK soap opera.
Terese, played by Rebekah, has been a central figure in several significant Neighbours storylines over the years, including her battles with breast cancer and alcoholism.
She also endured a painful divorce and tragically lost her son Josh (Harley Bonner), who perished in an explosion at the Lassiters Hotel.
The serial star, who is considering future chances as Neighbours draws to a close, would be qualified to appear in a well-liked UK soap.
She told The Radio Times, “They have some soaps in England, so to me they’ve got a huge, popular notion, massive.”
“Why not work on a soap opera in the UK? I have no idea because they are all so great. And all of them have lasted as long as Home and Away and Neighbours did. There are a lot, aren’t there?
Could she possibly be switching Australia for Weatherfield’s cobbles, the East End, or the Dales? She seems game for anything!
“There are Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, and EastEnders. It’s very great, I mean. I don’t know, really, whoever wanted me!
Rebekah enjoys watching UK dramas as well, and one particularly popular police programme has inspired her to play an Australian police officer in the future.
I’ve always wanted to play an Australian cop, she declared.
I’d love to play a detective or a cop in one of those kinds of series because I love British cop dramas and my husband and I are obsessed with Happy Valley with Sarah Lancashire.
The Neighbours season finale will air on Channel 5 on Friday, July 29 at 9:00 p.m. Until then, Neighbours airs on Channel 5 on weekdays at 1.45 and 6. My5 offers streaming as well.
