Next week on Neighbours, the best of Ramsay Street gather to honour Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland), who will die in forthcoming scenes.
Hendrix was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis earlier this year after becoming concerned about a chronic cough, as fans are aware.
His sole medical option was a lung transplant, which worried him because he felt he might die before a suitable donor could be found.
Despite his misgivings, a match was discovered, and Hendrix was pleased when the doctors informed him of it last month.
He rushed his wedding to Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone) before of the operation, and the two married in beautiful moments last week.
Hendrix was then taken to the hospital for his lung transplant, and after a heartfelt conversation with his family, he was wheeled away for operation.
His operation is supposed to have gone well, but disaster strikes this week when his body rejects his new lungs, leaving him with only hours to survive.
Hendrix, distraught, fights the pain to spend as much time as he can with his loved ones before dying in tragic scenes.
The news of his death sends shockwaves through Ramsay Street, and Mackenzie is clearly struggling.
She takes on the chore of completing two memorials for her late husband, but her stress levels rise when she realises they’re both scheduled for the same day, placing her in a pickle because she wants to attend both.
Mackenzie picks up Hendrix’s ashes the next week, and she and Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) struggle to come to grips with what has happened.
Mackenzie is well aware that the coming days will be difficult, but will she be able to keep her composure?
That will have to wait and see. In subsequent scenes, both in Erinsborough and Sydney, Hendrix will be recalled. The Erinsborough memorial is cheerful, whereas the Sydney memorial is solemn.
Mackenzie returns to the location where Hendrix proposed to her, and she finds the closure she seeks as she says goodbye to the love of her life, spreading his ashes in his favourite spot, wearing the same dress she wore on the day in question.
Grant visits later in the week to assist his daughter in her time of need, but both he and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) are taken aback by Mack’s apparent calmness.
Is everything as it appears?
