Kawakawa Fox-Reo, who plays Nikau Parata on Home and Away, spoke to Digital Spy about his character’s future plans.

Following a dramatic rescue in the sea, Nikau will be given an exciting opportunity in next week’s UK episodes.

In recent months, Nikau has been volunteering as a lifeguard. In upcoming Channel 5 scenes, he rushes to the aid of Millie, a newcomer to Summer Bay who walks out into the sea fully clothed and nearly drowns.

After successfully rescuing Millie, Nikau mulls over his future as a lifeguard, which is unpaid.

John Palmer steps in to make a pitch to the local council, arguing that Nikau should have a full-time paid position, lest he lose his star lifesaver.

“It was a lot of fun to film the Millie rescue scenes,” Kawakawa said of the upcoming scenes to Digital Spy. I spent a lot of time in and around the water.

“It took a couple of tries. Shooting on the water presented a unique challenge for the crew, but it was an unforgettable experience. I was overjoyed when Nikau was offered a full-time position. It’s a noble cause, and it’s better than modelling!

“I’m content as long as I’m in the water.” I’m excited to see how Nikau handles the challenges of being a lifeguard.”

Nikau’s new job comes after a number of characters close to him have left the show.

Ari Parata, Mia Anderson, and Ryder Jackson have all recently left the soap in the United Kingdom, while Bella Nixon has also left for New York.

“It always sucks saying goodbye,” Kawakawa added about the cast changes. Keeping in touch with everyone can be difficult at times, but I hope they’re all doing well.

“I believe it is now time for Nikau to begin forming new relationships, and this new job and new position provide an opportunity for him to do so.” I believe it is the start of something new.”
