Can they keep things clandestine?

Home and Away is set to upgrade Tane Parata and newcomer Jo Langham’s budding flirtation into a full-on romance this week after a few big setbacks, but if anything, things are going to get more difficult as they try and keep things a secret.

Tane previously got up and left their third date when the topic of her mother’s death became too difficult for him to deal with, even though dealing with loss was one of the things they initially brought them together.

“I think Jo and Tane discover they actually have a lot of common ground, after both losing loved ones,” Jo actor Maddison Brown told Australian outlet TV Week. “They have a past experience that bonds them and helps them understand each other better.”

After Tane’s disappearing act, it looked like things could have been over before they began as Jo’s father gave Tane a big telling off, reminding him that she’s feeling vulnerable right now.

In scenes airing Down Under this week and in the new year in the UK, Tane goes to apologise Jo, and admits that he’s really started to catch feelings for her.

The two give in to their desires, and take things to the next level.

However, they stop short of going public with their romance, as David isn’t keen on the thought of them together.

There’s also the fact that Tane’s ex Harper Matheson is still on the scene. After one secret meet with Jo this week, Tane checks his phone to see multiple texts from Harper, inviting him to dinner with her and Cash Newman.

While Tane tries to keep his romance a secret from Harper and Cash, Jo has to throw her suspicious sister Lacey off the scent.

How long will it be before the two are rumbled?
