Life finally seems to be falling into place for Zane (Angus McColl). With Marilyn (Emily Symons) firmly in his corner, he’s got a job at the diner, a roof over his head at Summer Bay House, and something he hasn’t had in a decade — a future. But freedom, it turns out, comes with its own kind of weight.
Ten years ago, Zane’s life and someone else’s collided in the worst way imaginable. A burglary gone wrong ended with him swinging a baseball bat at what he thought was a threat in the dark — only for it to be a little girl named Heidi. She survived, but the injuries she suffered that night have never fully left her. And now, sitting in the sunshine of Summer Bay with a second chance he never expected, Zane can’t stop thinking about the life he changed forever.
Marilyn has been Zane’s biggest advocate from day one, but not everyone shares her faith so easily. Alf (Ray Meagher) agreed — reluctantly — to let Zane move in, but his trust is paper-thin. In fact, Alf was ready to skip his own wife Martha’s (Belinda Giblin) birthday trip to Merimbula rather than leave Marilyn home alone with Zane. It took Marilyn, Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin (James Stewart) teaming up just to talk him into going.
This week, Alf finally heads off — but not without laying down the law first. He asks caravan park local Mali (Kyle Shilling) to keep an eye on things, and gets Zane to promise, man to man, that he’ll stay on the straight and narrow. Zane gives his word. But the moment Alf’s out the door, Marilyn senses something isn’t sitting right with him.
When she gently pushes him to open up, Zane finally admits the truth: he doesn’t feel like he deserves any of this. Not the job, not the house, not the trust everyone keeps handing him. Somewhere out there, Heidi is still living with what he did to her — and he’s the one who gets to move on.

Eden’s (Stephanie Panozzo) aplastic anaemia diagnosis has turned her world, and her family’s, upside down. Blood transfusions have only ever been a temporary fix, but doctor Amelia (Nicole da Silva) has finally offered a real glimmer of hope: a stem cell transplant that could cure her completely. The catch? They need to find a matching donor, and fast.
Naturally, her siblings stepped up. Levi (Tristan Gorey) and Abigail (Hailey Pinto) both volunteered to be tested — only for Abby to be devastated to learn her past history of intravenous drug use disqualifies her entirely. Eden did her best to reassure her little sister that Levi could still be the answer. But then she read the fine print on the donor information sheet, and everything got a whole lot more complicated.

One Sibling’s Recovery vs. Another’s Survival
This week, Levi returns to the hospital only to be blindsided by Eden’s decision. His upcoming hand surgery — his one shot at repairing the damage from his accident and salvaging his career — means he physically can’t donate stem cells while he recovers. Even if he’s a perfect match, the timing simply doesn’t work.
Levi, without a second thought, offers to postpone the surgery. But Eden won’t hear of it. She knows that pushing back his operation could cost him the use of his hand for good, and she refuses to let her illness be the reason he loses everything he’s worked toward. Their argument boils over, and Levi storms out, leaving a stunned Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) standing in the wreckage. Eden begs him to talk sense into his brother-in-law. But Cash can’t bring himself to do it — not when it’s his wife’s life hanging in the balance. He tells her plainly: he’s not going to stop fighting for her, whether she likes it or not.
Behind Eden’s back, Cash and Levi quietly agree to keep pursuing the donation anyway. There’s just one problem — legally, it’s still Eden’s call. It’s a turning point that seems to ripple through the whole family. When Levi’s called back to the hospital, Eden finally softens. She tells him she’s changed her mind and will let him be tested after all. She’s still terrified about what it could mean for his recovery — but she admits she can’t keep fighting the people who only want to save her.
In an emotional moment, Eden opens up about how hard it is to watch everyone reshape their lives around her illness. Cash and Abby remind her, gently but firmly, that this is exactly what family does for each other. With her blessing finally given, Levi heads off for his blood test.
