Even though former Neighbours star Margot Robbie was unable to return for the show’s last episodes, she was able to attend the cast’s final day.
After 37 years on the air, the show was cancelled in March after its UK broadcaster Channel 5 dropped the show from its schedule and no new broadcaster could be found.
Robbie delivered bottles of champagne to the cast and staff for a final toast on site to remember the memorable occasion.
Alan Fletcher (who plays Karl Fletcher), April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan), and Emerald Chan, among others, gave Robbie a shout-out on social media (Sadie Rodwell).
In 2008, the Suicide Squad actress landed a role as Donna Freedman on the Ramsay Street soap, which she left in 2011.
Robbie claimed in 2020 that the show’s producers declined to kill off her character because they wanted to leave the door open for a return if her Hollywood career failed.
“I told them I was moving to America, and then I asked if they would murder me off in a big dramatic way,” she explained at the time. “They said no because, “If things don’t work out in America, we want you to be able to come back and play the role again,” as they put it. So, coincidentally, my character moved to America as well.”
The final day of filming, according to Stefan Dennis, who plays Paul Robinson, was “very emotional.”
“On my very final scene, my very last dialogue session, I sort of closed the studio door behind me and, yeah, I suddenly startled myself by being really upset,” he remarked.
